Description: During this monthly mini-retreat, families expand their knowledge of Scripture and Catholic tradition, join in prayer, and participate in faith-based activities in a fun and relaxing atmosphere. Most importantly, the Family Sundays program equips families with the tools and resources to build households of faith. Each family receives a Catholic Family Connections Bible!
After Mass, everyone eats and prays together. Students go to classrooms to learn about the month’s theme in age-appropriate ways. During this time, adults will explore the same subject with a speaker. At the end, we come together to share what we have learned, participate in a related activity and pray closing prayer. Materials are given to do at home to enhance family faith life.
*2nd grade students will have approximately seven extra sessions on Sunday mornings (in addition to the regular Family Sundays) during the year for sacramental instruction.
Regular Sunday Mass attendance is expected of our Child Ministry families.
Parish Mass Times are:

St Monica: Sat 5:00 pm; Sun 8:00 & 10:15 am (Children’s Liturgy of the Word)

Safeguarding All God’s Family:
St Eugene and St Monica Parishes are committed to providing a safe environment for all. In compliance with the Archdiocese of Milwaukee and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, all volunteers over the age of 18 MUST attend a (free, one-time) Safe Environment Education Session, pass a criminal background check and read and sign the Code of Ethical Standards for Church Leaders. In addition, it is our goal to have ALL parents attend this class to increase awareness and safety. This would also qualify parents to chaperone field trips or assist in classrooms. Please go to www.archmil.org/offices/safeguarding.htm to register for a class.
Sacramental Preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist:
Child must attend one of these options:
Sunday School, Family Sundays, St Eugene School or St Monica School.
Families should be members of St Eugene or St Monica
(if not parish members, contact the Director of Child Ministry).
All students participating in Sacramental Preparation (from Child Ministry and the Catholic schools) will attend several meetings with a parent in addition to their regular catechesis. Each family meeting will be offered several times to allow parents to choose what works best for their family. Families will be given materials to review at home with their child(ren). This exciting year includes painting a candle to be used at the First Reconciliation Service, a “behind-the-scenes” church tour, baking unleavened bread, and much more! A Sacramental Fee of $75 is billed for each communicant.
